Michiko Kakutani, the legendary Pulitzer Prize winning book critic and most feared woman in publishing, is stepping down from The New York Times. She has guided so much of my literary tastes and discoveries since my college days when I read a review in the NYT. I wish I could remember what book it was that she’d reviewed. She may also have been the first by-line I ever noticed.

Lucky for us, she will continue writing about cultural topics. I so look forward to that!
