Well, I’m just going to say it.
I’m listening, Louis said.
I wonder if you would consider coming to my house sometimes to sleep with me.

Kent Haruf | Our Souls at Night

I fell upon this novel at a bookstore in Miami where the staff writes up those recommendations beneath the book on the shelf. I read the first few lines and was instantly intrigued so I nabbed it, despite having a list of “must reads” so long now that it is actually stressing me out. WOW. What a discovery, this Kent Haruf. Read this in two seatings, mostly because I wanted to slow it down to match the internal pacing of the narrative. A beautiful and sad love story. Highly recommend.
